The Area

Dunoon is the Gateway to the Beauty and Activities of Argyll

Douglas Park Bed and Breakfast / Guest House is set at the gateway to the beauty of Argyll with many places to visit and a diverse and outstanding array of scenery. Cowal, our part of Argyll, is not only a place of beauty and tranquillity, is packed with fascinating places to visit and lots of great activities for all age groups.

The annual events calendar takes in world class highland games, food and walking festivals, concerts and community ceilidhs. The history of Cowal can be seen in the many historic houses, gardens, castles, churches and museums which dot the landscape provide a fascinating insight into this unique part of Argyll, Scotland.

Cowal is also a great place for families; it is very relaxing to enjoy the sea shore with a picnic or take a walk in the woods and hills. But there are also plenty of opportunities to try lots of activities; horse-riding, golf, sailing and mountain biking are all on offer as well as visitor attractions, holiday parks and facilities which provide fun family activities. We have three golf courses locally and always happy to help with arranging tee off times .etc. Bring your bikes, Kayaks and paddleboards. Secure storage in our garage.

Recently Dunoon has been getting rave reviews for it’s world class mountain bike trails, mountain bike competitions, road marathons, triathlon and an Ultra marathon. Many competitors gather for weekend events throughout the year. For more details, please have a look at Dunoon Presents website for details and dates of local events. NEW to the area is Wreckspedition. Jason runs dive charters to local dive sites, and rib rides to see wildlife and wrecks too. See also below.
