Dunoon is on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. Come by road, boat, train or plane …
From the South: Follow the M8 (A8) west to Greenock and then the A770 to Western Ferries terminal at McInroy’s Point 2 miles beyond Gourock town centre or come along the Ayrshire coast by the A78 taking the A770 for the terminal. The terminal is approximately 50 minutes drive from Glasgow. Ferries leave every 20 minutes for most of the day, and the crossing takes just 20 minutes. Alternatively leave the motorway at junction 30 and take the M898 to the Erskine bridge and then take the beautiful scenic route on the A82 by Loch Lomond side north to Tarbet, signposted Crianlarich, then take the A83 to Arrochar and continue along the A83 and turn off near Cairndow onto the A815.
From the North/North West: Drive via Inveraray or Crianlarich to join the A 83, turning off near Cairndow onto the A 815 for Cowal.

Dunoon is on the mainland, on the Cowal peninsula which is served by two ferry companies – Western Ferries and Argyll Ferries .
Western Ferries carry cars and passengers from Gourock (McInroy’s Point) and Dunoon. Buy dicounted tickets online from Western Ferries , full price on the ferry or from one of their ticket agents in Cowal, Greenock, Gourock or Wemyss Bay. Click here for their agents. We are only half a mile from Western Ferries Hunter’s Quay terminal.
Argyll Ferries are passenger only to and from Dunoon Pier and have train connections in Gourock. We are only a short taxi ride from Dunoon Pier.
Discounted return car ferry and passenger tickets can be purchased in Gourock for Western Ferries, although full price tickets can be bought on board. Stop at “Keystore”, 94 Shore Street, Gourock. PA19 1RB or The Co-operative Food, 21 Eldon Street Greenock . Worth stopping for as they are approx half price.

Glasgow International Airport is our closest airport. When arriving take a taxi to Paisley Gilmour Street Station. From there take a train to Gourock which will meet the passenger ferry to Dunoon. We are a short taxi ride away from Dunoon Pier.
Why not hire a car for the duration of your visit? There are many car rental companies at the airport.
– Or the Glasgow airport bus takes 20 minutes to Glasgow City Centre where you can catch a bus or train.
